*Course DescriptionThe primary objective is to fully develop the body as a musical instrument through the focal premise of improvisation in dance. MTD introduces the knowledge of theory that will enable dancers, dance teachers, and choreographers the ability to express music physically through the art form of house dance and other various forms of movement. Enhance proper motor skills, understand various elements of tone and pitch, keen observation, understanding and utilizing physical movements with accurate and intentional expression.

 

*Pre-requisite/programFirst class attendance is mandatory. This course will prepare the student to pursue Music Theory Courses: Lower-Division Courses

 

*Teach MethodThe Pedagogy of MTD teaching methods are mainly based around Western Music Theory with some additional forms of methodology which are conceived by MikeU4ria. In addition, the normative techniques of several urban dance pioneers.

 

*Instructional MethodThis course is taught using the actual name referencing terminology that is in Music Theory (Western Music). A variety of instructional methods will be used including lecture, class discussions, small group work, project creation, and electronic discussion (website).

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

MTD will be taught in four main Chapters, with pre subjects for all. The chapters are 1.Notes, 2.Scales, 3.Chords, and 4.Progression. These subjects will be taught on a weekly basis, each class will be 90 minutes except for the first and last subject of each chapter, and these subjects will be 120 minutes. The full course of MTD is 8 months, two chapters will be taught within a four-month span.

MTD is a registered dance curriculum which was inspired by MUSIC THEORY Relating To Dance. A registered dance workshop intensive from the collective creativity of Michael Clarke & Brian Green.
